What better way to inaugurate this blog than an interview with the very talented Hanna (aka Dazzleme7 on youtube)? Not only is she a well loved vidder - her Harry Potter just reached 1 million views - she’s also a gifted songwriter/singer.
1) Your Marching On video just reached 1 million views, and you have over 22,000 subscribers. That’s a pretty big accomplishment! How do you feel about that?
I feel incredibly proud that Marchin On reached 1 million views. I have other videos that reached a high amount of views but none of which I am really proud of. So I’m glad it’s a video that I worked so hard on.
2) Clearly, you never get tired of vidding Harry Potter and Skins. How do you manage to never lose inspiration for those fandoms?
I don’t know, both these fandoms are more than fandoms to me. Harry Potter changed my life, it really did. And I know a lot of people feel the same. With Skins, it sorta helped me through my teenage years so it’s also incredibly special to me.
3) As both a vidder and a singer, what’s your view on copyright issues?
Hmm.hard to say. I get emails everyday nearly saying that someone stole my videos so I almost don’t care anymore. When it comes to my singing, I would take it much more seriously.
4) I was wondering if you could also speak your views on the whole “Vidders vs copyright” thing? What about downloading songs illegally?
Oh I see…I’m afraid I don’t have the best answers to that. It’s tricky. I download songs myself but I also buy cds sometimes. I think it’s a shame what happened to the music industry, I really do.
I hate strikes, I think it’s unfair and I think you should need more than three before your account is taken down. Using a song by someone should be a complement. Not something that should be punished. You know?
5) When writing a song, do you ever get inspired by fandoms? Or do you only draw from real life experiences?
No, I get inspired by my own experiences, always. It’s my way of getting the emotions out…
6) Have you ever tried your hand at other forms of expression like drawing, writing fanfictions, etc?
I have yes, I’m an artistic person so I’ve tried everything, nearly. But writing music is what I do best so I don’t draw anymore. You find the thing you’re best at, you know.. .
